CookPea (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mobile application developed and operated by Agni Technologies, based in the Netherlands. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the CookPea mobile application.

Agni Technologies is the data controller responsible for your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Encrypted password
  • Account identifiers generated by our authentication provider

An email address is required to create an account.

2.2 User-Generated Content

When you use CookPea, you may voluntarily create or upload:

  • Recipes (text content)
  • Images of food
  • User information (Name, bio, profile picture)

Recipes can be public or private, depending on your settings. By default, recipes are public unless you change this in the app settings.

2.3 Images and Media

  • Images are uploaded and stored via Cloudinary
  • Only square images are allowed
  • Images are not automatically resized or processed beyond standard storage handling

No other file types (such as video or documents) are collected.

2.4 Usage and Analytics Data

We collect limited, non-invasive usage data to improve the app:

  • Basic usage statistics
  • App performance and error reports

This data is collected using:

  • Supabase analytics
  • Google Analytics for Firebase

We do not track individual user behavior such as specific button presses or screen interactions.

2.5 Notifications and Communication

CookPea may send:

  • Push notifications (optional and configurable)
  • Transactional emails (e.g. password resets, email verification)

You can disable push notifications at any time via the app settings or your device settings.

3. Permissions

CookPea may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera: to take photos for recipes
  • Photo library: to upload existing photos
  • Notifications: to receive app notifications

All permissions are optional. The app remains usable without granting them, although some features (such as adding photos) will be unavailable.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Allow you to create, publish, and manage recipes
  • Display public content to other users
  • Improve app performance and reliability
  • Communicate important account-related information
  • Maintain security and prevent abuse

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You can delete your account from within the app at any time.

While deleting your account you may choose to:

  • Delete all your content, or
  • Keep your content anonymously, removing your username and identifying information

After account deletion:

  • Personal account data is removed
  • Content retained anonymously can no longer be linked to you

Some technical or legal data may be retained for a limited period where required by law.

6. Third-Party Services

CookPea uses trusted third-party services:

  • Supabase: authentication, database, analytics
  • Cloudinary: image storage
  • Google Firebase Analytics: app usage analytics

These services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Secure authentication
  • Encrypted connecitons
  • Restricted access to systems

No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

8. Children's Privacy

CookPea is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe such data has been collected, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request data portability
